We built assets.
Then we built a different life.

We're Jaq and Mike. Property helped us turn successful careers into more choice about how we spend our time. That experience is the starting point for Buyers Boutique.

Here's how we got here
Jaq and Mike together at a café
Jaq & MikeFounders. Partners in life, too.

A high income was the starting point.

We spent our earning years in enterprise technology and put them into property. We bought, improved and built assets outside our careers, and those assets gave us the choice to step away and start Buyers Boutique.

Along the way we hired buyers agents, and they kept handing the work back to us. There were feasibility spreadsheets to fill in. We had to estimate management fees, council rates and vacancy ourselves, and chase updates between the agent, the broker and the conveyancer. We wanted to understand the numbers, but we were paying someone else to do the work.

So we built Buyers Boutique to carry the load. We understand the goal, test the property, explain the recommendation and see the purchase through to settlement. It's the company we wish we could have hired.

Different strengths. The same way of looking at things.

Client relationships & acquisitions

Jaq Adama's interest in property began in Canada, where she ran a residential painting business. She saw first hand how improving a home could change what someone was willing to pay for it.

She then spent a decade in technology sales at Marketo, New Relic and GitHub. She beat her target every one of those years and regularly made President's Club.

Away from the sales floor, she and Mike were painting, renovating and lifting rents, and they eventually took on a knockdown and rebuild. There were mistakes too, and purchases she would not make again.

In tech, though, the targets kept climbing, the resources kept shrinking and the years kept adding up. She wanted a more meaningful life, with time on her own terms, and the property they had built on the side made that possible.

Today Jaq is the qualified buyers agent at Buyers Boutique. She brings the same discipline to every acquisition that she once brought to a sales number. She leads client relationships, inspections, negotiation and acquisitions. She starts with the life the client wants, then works out what the next purchase needs to do to get them there.

Strategy, research & systems

Mike Wingfield spent more than a decade leading sales teams across Asia Pacific for global technology companies, including Marketo, New Relic, Twilio and Deel. Tech was good to him. But every year the targets went up, and so did the strain on his mind and body.

He didn't want to stop working. He wanted to work on his own terms. So he and Jaq built an off-ramp through property, using lessons they learnt along the way, and in 2026 he left corporate life to run Buyers Boutique full time.

BB exists to help people in the same position build their own. Mike runs the strategy, research and systems behind every brief. Clients rarely see this work, but it decides whether they end up with a better asset or just a faster purchase. He runs it with Jaq, whom he's worked alongside since 2016 and been partners with since 2020.

Sunrise Beach · Our own property

The original brick house at Sunrise Beach, bought in 2020

In 2020 Queensland was in lockdown and most buyers were waiting it out. We weren’t. We bought a tired three-bedroom, one-bathroom house at Sunrise Beach for $745,000. It had 115m² of house on a block we thought was worth more than the building sitting on it.

The quick win. We spent $10,000 on paint, the garden and a kitchen tidy-up. The property manager appraised the rent at $500 a week. We held out, and five weeks later it leased for $750.

The long play. By 2025 the bank valued it at $1.6 million, most of that in the land. So we knocked it down and put $740,000 into a new four-bedroom, two-bathroom home with a double garage and 253m² of living space.

Today. The indicative value is more than $2.4 million. The new home is being prepared for lease, with a rental appraisal of $1,800 to $2,200 a week.

Our values.

1. Do the right thing because it's the right thing to do.

We explain a concern even when it slows things down or means a purchase doesn't go ahead.

2. Would we buy it?

After the research, we ask whether we'd put our own money into this property if we were in your position.

3. Why get a dog and bark for it?

We explain the property's numbers and keep the agreed buying work moving. It should feel like you've hired help.

4. Carry the load.

We organise what matters and what needs your attention. You stay in control of the decisions.

We work hard and fast. We relax slow.

Home is two and a half acres in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, shared with our staffies, Albi and Kassie, plus cows, horses, kangaroos and more birds than we can name. We garden, walk the dogs and find a beach to stretch out on.

Jaq starts early in the shed gym with a property or economics podcast. Mike keeps finding reasons to work on the lawn. Mostly, we want time together to enjoy the life we've built.

What are you building towards?
